For Trevian Parents

Parents are an integral part of The Trevian Girls Softball Association. We encourage parent participation at all levels -- from coaching, to car pooling, to Board membership to staffing concession stands at the Trevian Tournament (which every Trevian family must do).

Time Commitment

Starting in the fall, older age-group Trevian teams will start practices for the following year. At the beginning of the year, girls qualifying for younger age-group teams will begin indoor practices. Indoor practices will increase to one a week in March, April and May at various facilities in the area. When weather permits in April and May there will also be additional outdoor practices.

Clearly, Trevian softball requires a big time commitment. Complete and consistent attendance is expected from coaches. Parents and/or players who cannot commit to the time required should notify their head coach immediately.

Parents must notify coaches as far in advance as possible if their daughter is unable to attend a practice, game, or tournament.  Games and practices are mandatory and all players are expected to be at all games and practices.  The only reasons for not attending are excused absences -- school, religious, medical and scheduled family travel are typical examples of excused absences. Movies, birthday parties and sleepovers are not.

Coaches will be available to discuss any potential conflicts that might arise with games and practices. It is important that a consistent attendance policy be in effect for all players and therefore imperative that parents and players communicate with their coaches.  Coaches must be emailed or called before any missed game or practice!

Money Matters

Before your daughter can play Trevian softball, parents are required to provide our team manager with the following:

        • A completed and signed waiver form and medical authorization form.
        • Two copies of your daughter's birth certificates.
        • A signed copy of the Trevian Philosophy and Team Agreement.
        • A check made payable to TGSA for the team's fee.

The following are documents that can be downloaded, printed and signed by Trevians players and their parents before the start of the season:

TGSA Registration and Waiver Form

TGSA Team Agreement

TGSA Code of Conduct

If for some reason a player or parent is unhappy with a specific game or practice situation, coaches should be contacted at home via telephone -- not at the game. This helps to alleviate game time stress and makes a solution more attainable.
