Trevian Girls Softball Association

If you are a girl who wants to play competitive summer softball, Trevian Girls Softball Association (TGSA) teams are for you! The TGSA is one of the top competitive girls softball programs in the Chicago area. Trevian teams play games from June through the end of July, with possible post-season play for older travel teams, as well as for advanced 10U and 12U teams. Tryouts for the 14U to 18U age groups are held in August and September, while the 10U and 12U tryouts are held in January.The TGSA also sponsors indoor fall/winter workouts for all age levels. The Trevian Indoor Program (TIP) covers the 10U and 12U age groups until their spring team tryouts

10U Age Group

The 10U age group, for girls who are 10 and under as of January 1 of the season year, emphasizes learning the basics, with plenty of guidance, patience and encouragement from both coaches and fellow teammates. During 2006, the TGSA had four 10-U teams at different competitive levels. Our beginning teams learned a lot and competed well in their leagues.

The beginning teams play a schedule of 10 to 12 league games plus 2 weekend tournaments, while the more advanced teams play 12 to 14 league games plus 4 to 6 weekend tournaments. Teams in this age group can expect 4 to 6 days of softball activity per week during the summer season.

12U Age Group

This age group puts more emphasis on strategy and competition, and also involves a greater time commitment. Teams in this age group play 12 to 14 league games on weekday evenings, plus 3 to 6 weekend tournaments for 5 to 6 days of softball activity each week.

During 2006 the TGSA had four 12-U teams at different competitive levels.

14U Age Group

This program prepares junior high players to compete at the high school level. Emphasis on competition is higher, as is the time commitment, through expanded tournament play. Teams in this age group play 12 to 14 league games on weekday evenings, plus weekend tournaments.

16U and 18U Age Groups

The 16U program prepares athletes to play at the varsity high school level and beyond. This age group participates in a competitive summer season of weekday double-headers plus 4 to 6 weekend tournaments. During the past few years, both our 16U and 18U teams competed at National level tournaments.

Tryouts for older age groups are held in August and September, after which the players take part in off-season conditioning, batting and pitching practice until the start of their spring school softball programs. The Trevian season begins at the end of the school season, and continues through the first weekend in August
